Church Revives The Good Ol’ Days with Throwback Sunday

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — If you’ve ever “heard an old, old story” about the “power in the blood” on the “old rugged cross,” then you won’t want to miss Willowbrook Baptist Church’s Throwback Sunday. The annual celebration will be on October 18, and it will include the old-time hymns of days past — the songs you know and love, all with a bluegrass feel.

“Throwback Sunday gives us a chance to remember that we are beneficiaries of the legacy that has been passed down by previous generations, and that we can continue to build on that legacy to make a difference for future generations of believers,” said Liz Edwards, marketing director at Willowbrook. The church plans to feature Throwback pictures of Willowbrook history and perhaps some of current Willowbrook staff on Facebook (@WillowbrookLife) in the week leading up to Throwback Sunday.

Willowbrook has been a part of the Huntsville community since the late 1950s, and has grown significantly under the leadership of Dr. Mark D. McClelland, who preached his first sermon at Willowbrook on Easter Sunday 2001, and will celebrate 20 years of ministry with Willowbrook on Easter Sunday 2021.

Willowbrook is taking precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Masks are required as guests enter all services and in all the common areas. Congregants can remove the masks once seated. There is no-touch entry to the sanctuary, and households will practice social distancing.

Service times are 8:00, 9:15 at 10:45 a.m. at the Huntsville campus on 7625 Bailey Cove Road Huntsville, Alabama 35802, and 9:15 and10:45 a.m. at the Madison campus on 466 Jeff Road Huntsville, Alabama 35806.

Mark October 18 on your calendars to spend a morning of fun, fellowship and remembering the good ol’ days before pandemics, politics and general peril took over.
